BACKGROUND
Center of Prehistory and Austronesian Studies was established as a non-profit & non-governmental research institution by a team of researchers with special interests in the study of Quaternary Prehistory and Austronesia.
Past, present, and future are links of contunuous timeline. What was found today, was made and rooted in the past and will continue to develop in the future. Within the time frame context, Center of Prehistory and Austronesian Studies would like to partake in understanding origins, dispersals, and development of human and their cultures; to re-introduce and enforce personal or communal identities; and to envision the future of our nation.
Based on the background frame of thinking, as the pioneer of Center of Prehistory and Austronesian Studies, Prof. Dr. T. Simanjuntak also thought that achieving comprehensive understanding of such subjects can be solved by applying variety of archaeological methods and interpretation. This idea was then developed by linking professional relationships with skills and expertise in various fields of archaeology and formed Center of Prehistory and Austronesian Studies on December 2007.
A website is made to support the cause and to provide information on specific studies of origins, dispersal, and development of Austronesian in the archipelago. Center of Prehistory and Austronesian Studies would like also to invite professional collaboration to researchers with similar interests to cover the vast geographical contexts and cultural aspects of the studies.
